Two twins raised by the same parent. One ends up a drug addict, and he was asked why, he said:
"Because I was raised by an addict."
The other turned out clean and well. She was asked why, and said:
"Because I was raised by an addict."
Two students under the tutelage of the same teacher. One goes around judging, criticising, and condemning everybody. She was asked why, and said:
"Because I was taught by a condemner."
The other turned out to be non-judgmental, kind, and forgiving. He was asked why, and said:
"Because I was taught by a condemner."
Two employees groomed into leadership positions in the same organisation. One became a fault-finder, a black-mailer, a lime-light stealer to get to the top. When asked why, he said:
"Because I was led that way, and it worked."
The other ended up in leadership too, but through generous praise-giving, constructive feedback, and genuine hard work. When asked why, she said:
"Because I was not led that way, and it hurt."
Friends, no matter what our circumstances were in the past; how painful our childhood was, or how tragic a relationship ended, we are always presented with the opportunity to write for ourselves a new story, with each new day that is given to us.
Remember, life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you respond. We can choose to live as a victim of our circumstances for the rest of our lives, or we can choose to be better. Choose wisely.
